Congolese culture, gatherings and practical help in Nijmegen
BLB Nijmegen is here for people of Congolese descent in the Netherlands, and for anyone who wants to get to know the community. Here you'll find gatherings to meet one another, attention for Congolese language and traditions, and help with learning Dutch and finding work.
Is BLB for you too?
People come to the foundation for different reasons.
- You are of Congolese descent and are looking for people who share your language and background.
- You've been in the Netherlands only a short while and are struggling with the language, with work or with daily life here.
- You want to experience Congolese culture up close: music, dance, food and conversation.
- You work for an organisation or school and are looking for contact with the Congolese community.
What BLB does
Four areas the foundation is active in.
Organising gatherings
Cultural days, information afternoons and shared meals, such as the Independence Day of the DRC and the Congolese meal.
Practical help
Language lessons as a step towards school and work, thinking along about job applications, and answers to questions about life in the Netherlands.
Not letting go of Congo
Attention and help for orphans and for people affected by the conflict in Congo.

A foundation for culture, gatherings and support
BLB Nijmegen brings people together around Congolese culture and identity. The foundation organises gatherings and helps people finding their way in Dutch society.
Who runs the foundation
BLB has a board of five people with fixed responsibilities. They coordinate the gatherings, manage the finances and can be approached about what the foundation does.
